You may have noticed recently that we have made no fewer than four new signings from Trinidad & Tobago. All four lads have settled in very well into the Uprising Family, and having done so, we thought it was a good time to catch up with them to find out more about their careers to date and their thoughts on playing for our club. Having already interviewed Isaiah Isaac, Darlon Guppy, and Khaden Caraby; the fourth and final episode of this series of interviews sees us talking to Rondell Austin.
Rondell Austin is a 31-year-old attacking player who made a superb goal scoring debut for us recently in the 1-1 draw with Roaring Lions. We asked him for his thoughts on that game and what was behind his decision to join the club.
“Well, to be honest, I wanted to put a good foot forward in my debut game, and I did just that! It was also a good team performance from the team, and I believe we will get even stronger as the games go by!”
“As to why I wanted to join Uprising – I am a good friend of Leon Whyle and he told me some good things about the club. I watched some games, and I was offered the chance to sign by club President Tre Gumbs after he watched my highlights video.”
Rondell has previously played for several clubs in Trinidad & Tobago such as San Juan Jabloteh, Terminex La Horquetta Rangers, and Eagles FC. In doing so, he has gained some vital experience at playing at a high standard something that can only benefit Uprising FC! On speaking to Rondell, we asked him what he thinks Uprising can achieve this season and although he has only been here for a short period of time, what were his thoughts on now being in Anguilla.
“I think we will do well this season, and maybe even finish at the top of the league if we believe in ourselves and work hard.” I love it here, Anguilla is a nice place with beautiful beaches and the whole experience has been great so far!”
We are delighted to hear that Rondell is loving life on our beautiful island, and we look forward to watching him more this season! Welcome to the club bro!
