Young Defender, Big Ambitions: Khaden Caraby

You may have noticed recently that we have made no fewer than four new signings from Trinidad & Tobago. All four lads have settled in very well into the Uprising Family, and having done so, we thought it was a good time to catch up with them to find out more about their careers to date and their thoughts on playing for our club. Having already interviewed Isaiah Isaac and Darlon Guppy, the third episode of this series of interviews sees us talking to Khaden Caraby.

Khaden is a 20-year-old defender and like his compatriot Isaiah, he has joined our club having previously played for the prestigious Athletic International Academy in his native Trinidad & Tobago. Khaden has settled into our club very well with his performances on the pitch being to a high standard. But, how as he settled into living in Anguilla, not an easy thing to do for someone so young.

“I am enjoying life in Anguilla, he said, I really like the peacefulness and calmness of the island.”

And, as for his thoughts on the games he’s played for Uprising thus far, he had the following to say.

“I have enjoyed the games I’ve played so far. The team fights and works for each other in order to be successful. I personally think that I am doing well but also know that I can still do better and do more to help the team.”

We always like to hear the background of our new signings, and when we asked Khaden to tell us about his football journey to date, he was more than happy to oblige.

“I started playing football at approximately the age of 4, and that is when I fell in love with the game! However, it wasn’t until I stepped away from the field for a couple of years that I truly understood the love and passion I have for the sport.”

“I played for teams throughout the school ranks, and as you have already highlighted, I also played for the Athletic International Academy where I gained a vast amount of experience and exposure.”

As the conversation with Khaden progressed, we asked him what he thought Uprising FC could achieve this season.

“I think we can win the league, I really do! If we continue to work hard, stick together, play for each other and the badge, I honestly believe we can get it done!”

We like the sound of that Khaden! To finish, we asked our new defender if he could tell us what his short- and long-term ambitions are in the game.

“An immediate short-term goal for me is to help Uprising FC to win the league title! As for long term, I would like to keep on gaining opportunities from here on in to help me to keep moving in a forward’s direction.”

We thank Khaden for taking the time to speak to us and we would like to take this opportunity to welcome him to the club. We look forward to watching more of him as the season progresses!
