EARLY STRIKE SETS TONE FOR SIX-GOAL CRUISE

It was six of the best at the Raymond E Guishard Technical Centre on Friday with the lads recording a comfortable 6-1 victory over West End Predators.

The scoring started in only the 2nd minute of the game when Leon Whyle scored with a trademark strike from the edge of the penalty area. Moments later it was almost 2-0 when Kemari Gumbs was presented with a great chance, but unfortunately the 'Anguillian Ronaldinho' dragged his shot wide of the target.

Despite our dominance, Predators almost equalised in the 11th minute with a ferocious free-kick that went narrowly over the bar with Shemor Browne at full stretch. Following this let off, it was then a case of plenty of possession from the boys with chances coming and going before we doubled our lead courtesy of an own goal when a a defender turned into his own after a great cross from Jordan Deans.

Towards the end of the first half, the impressive Isaiah Isaac went close to making it 3-0 on a couple of occasions with two chances in quick succession. Without either of those chances being converted however, the score remained at 2-0 as the referee blew the whistle for half-time.

The second half started how the first ended with the boys dictating the play and we increased our lead on 52 minutes through a second own goal of the evening which effectively secured the three points for us.

We continued searching for more goals, but it has to be said, we were denied time and time again from superb goalkeeping from the Predators custodian. However, that 4th goal eventually arrived in the 82nd minute of the game when Leon Whyle doubled his tally for the evening.

It was 5-0 just three minutes later! Leon with another great strike which secured his hat-trick! In a crazy spell, Cardinae Rennie then made it 6-0 with a low shot from 20 years out which gave the keeper little chance of saving! There was then just about time for a consolation goal from our opponents right on the stroke of full-time which ended the entertainment for the evening.
