A SHARE OF THE POINTS

On Friday 5th April, we took on Eagle Claw FC in our fourth game of the AFL regular season. We knew that we would be in for a tough encounter as we had previously played our opponents in this season’s Presidents Cup, drawing 0-0.

In an excellent game of football, we had Jordan Deans to thank for rescuing a point for us when he levelled from the penalty spot in the 68th minute, cancelling out an earlier spot-kick converted by Eagle Claw.

It must be said that this was the least we deserved from the game after we created numerous chances throughout, Jauron Gayle going close more than once but being denied by some good goalkeeping. Talking of goalkeeping, this game will also be remembered for a POTM performance by our young custodian Keronni Vanterpool. The first half especially seeing Keronni pulling off a string of fine saves!

Late in the game we had Marvin Erskine sent off for what the referee deemed to be Marvin denying a goalscoring opportunity. This looked to be a harsh decision, but credit must go to the lads as we battled on for the remainder of the game and at times looked the most likely to score a winner!
All in all, ending the game with ten men probably means that we were happy with taking a point, but our overall performance deserved so much more.
