VIEW FROM THE DUGOUT

Following our amazing 10-1 win over Diamond FC, a win that propelled us into the semi-final of the Presidents Cup, we spoke to Head Coach Chavoi Gumbs to gauge his opinion on our latest win and to ascertain his thoughts ahead of our big game against Roaring Lions on Wednesday. Here is what our coach had to say:

“With regards to the game against Diamond, right from the warmup, the lads knew what we were going in to and knew that it was a must win! To do this we obviously had to score goals, so the mindset was purely to focus on attack, and to be aggressive from the first minute. We knew we needed to win every challenge, win every 50/50 ball and when we got control of the ball, we would need to focus on dominating the play, look for the runners, play balls in behind the defence, get the ball across goal and most importantly,  get shots on target!”

Chavoi Continued – “I was pleased to see us scoring our first goal from a set piece as this is something we have been working on for a while. It is really good to see the things that we practice constantly, working in a game. This goal started the fire, and everybody contributed to a great performance, I couldn’t be prouder of the guys!”

Chavoi then turned his attention to the semi-fianl against Roaring Lions.

“We know that Roaring Lions is a very resilient team and have proven time and time again that they are a difficult team to beat, having won many titles over the years, they have a great pedigree! Due to this, we know that we need to come out and fight from the first minute, give it our all and leave everything out on the pitch! The whole team will need to continue to play with our unity and continue to do things we do on the training field. We need to keep our concentration and play with confidence, if we do this, we know that we have the ability to beat any team in this league!”
