A CHAT WITH OUR NEW SIGNING – TAJAY JOHNSON

Just before the start of the season, we were delighted to sign Tajay Johnson from Eagle Claw FC. Tajay, who was born in Jamaica, has been playing in Anguilla since 2022 and has scored 24 goals in just 34 appearances. A fantastic record and having scored his first goal since joining us in the recent 9-0 victory over West End Predators, we thought we take this opportunity to have a catch up with him. The first question we asked him was what his main reason was for joining our club and how has he settled in since he signed.

“My main reason for joining was that I have always admired how organised the club is, and the unity amongst everyone at the club both on and off the pitch. Settling in has been pretty easy due to the love and support I have received from everyone at the club thus far.”

We then asked Tajay if he thinks his first goal for us against WEP is a sign of things to come from him.

“Yes, I was very happy to open my account in the Presidents Cup, not only for myself but for the club as well because it was our first goal in this season’s competition. I feel that it is definitely a sign of things to come, I am feeling very confident!”

And as for what he thinks we can achieve as a club this season.

“We have been putting in a lot of work in training as we prepare for the games ahead of us. It is a great club with magnificent players so in my opinion we are in a great position to achieve plenty of success this season.”

Talking of the season ahead, we asked Tajay if he sets himself targets for each season that he plays.

“Yes, I do set myself targets for every season because it keeps me motivated and to be at the peak of my game. I’m a competitive player and when you are like that then personal expectations are a must!”

We thank Tajay for taking the time to answer our questions and it goes without saying that we are absolutely delighted to have him playing for our club. Finally, we asked him if he can explain what it means to him to play for Uprising FC.

“It really means a lot to play for a club as fantastic as Uprising FC! I know what is required of me from the club and our supporters, so I am going to give it my all in each and every game I play – the only way is (UP)!”
