Meet the Players : Today with Ea-Rhon Rogers

    Name: Ea-Rhon Rogers

    Age: 22

    Home Town: Stoney Ground

Occupation: Student at Morehouse College (Computer Science)

    Previous Club: Diamonds FC

    Position: LB

GT: What is your earliest memory from watching or playing football?

ER: I can vividly remember watching Paul Scholes play for Manchester United and I can also vividly remember playing Inter Primary School football at the age of 8.

GT: Did you look up to any players when you started playing the game?

ER: Being a Manchester boy it was watching Rooney and Ronaldo that excited and inspired me the most. I also spent lots of time watching at Ronaldinho.

GT: So, after finishing primary and then secondary school how long was it before you started playing for Diamonds FC?

ER: I started playing for Diamonds whilst at high school at the age of16-17 years old.

GT: What were your highlights from your time playing for the club?

ER: The youth mainly and the intense training.

GT: What was so intense about the training and how did it benefit you as a player?

ER: It was intense in the sence that it was a new young team and we had to work hard to gain respect.

GT: How long did you play at diamonds for and when did you join Uprising FC?

ER: Two seasons. Myself, Kordell and Tré actually left Diamonds to form Uprising FC.

GT: That's interesting EA-RHON, so being one of the founding members of our club it must make you very proud everytime you play?

ER: Every time... The progress is humbling.

GT: If you had to pick one moment as your favourite of all time from playing for Uprising then what would it be?

ER: It would be perhaps our first knockout tournament, we made it through to final and took one of the best teams to penalties. Another favourite moment was when we won the recent D-League.

GT: So, we have talked about your club career to date now let's talk about your international career. You were telling me during a break in the interview that you had played for the Anguilla Under 20's team. Can you tell me more about this - how many times have you represented your country and who have you played against?

ER: I played three times for the under 20's team. We played against Cayman Islands, Bermuda and Haiti.

GT: What did it feel like to play for your country, a very proud moment I expect? Can you talk a little about the games that you played in what are your memories from them?

ER: We were very much proud to play for our country. The physical experience was tiresome but very educational, I left with learning more lessons and which helped me improve.

GT: Have you got ambitions to play for the senior national team in the future?

ER: Yes, I plan to play for senior team once selected nex year.

GT: Ea-Rhon, thanks very much for being the third player to be interviewed for Uprising FC Meet the Players. Finally could you answer the following two questions please:

Who is the best team you have played against?

Who in your opinion is currently the best player in the world?

ER: Haiti U20 is the best I have played against, a very fast team.

The best player in my opinion is Messi Because of his ability to have an input in literally everyway for his team.
