Meet the Players : Today with Tré Gumbs

Welcome to the second interview in the series of - Uprising FC Meet the Players. Today's interview is with Tré Gumbs - we hope you enjoy it - Gareth Thomas, Uprising FC Media Officer.

Name: Tré Gumbs

Age: 23

Home Town: Lower South Hill

Occupation: Food and Beverages Supervisor at Four Seasons

Previous Clubs: Burnham Juniors, Spartans, Diamonds

Position: Midfielder

GT: OK Tré, let's go back to the start of your football journey. Can you tell our supporters about your time at Burnham Juniors?

TG: I started kicking a football as soon as I could walk. My Father was a coach at Burnham Juniors and I joined the club when I was five years old.

GT: How long did you play for Burnham Juniors and what happened at the end of your time with the club, who did you play for next.

TG: I played for Burnham from the age of five to thirteen. I left in 2010 to move to Anguilla where I only played school football for a few months before I was discovered by Spartans.......... The school team.

GT: Tell us about your time with Spartans, what were your highlights from playing for them?

TG: I think the best thing about Spartans was getting to try all different types of positions to find my comfort.

GT: Was this when you started to play as a midfielder?

TG: Yes.

GT: What type of midfield player would you describe yourself as - box to box, holding, tough tackler?

TG: During the recent season I played as an holding midfielder, I would love to see myself back on the wing at my fittest point.

GT: When did you move to Diamonds FC and can you tell us about your time playing for them?

TG: I can't even remember what year it was, I may have to check Pascal's (Uprising FC Secretary) documents. At Diamonds I felt that I was given a lot of confidence by the coach - Nigel Linton. He helped me a lot in finding my weak areas and working on them. He has been very supportive along my football journey. Even though I don't play for Diamonds anymore we will always be a family.

GT: That's great to hear, sounds like you have got some very fond memories from playing for Diamonds. Right, we now move onto our very own club - Uprising FC. We have spoken about this together but for those who don't know please can you explain your involvement with the club?

TG: I have been with Uprising since day one in the league. We have been a very independent club - for the youth by the youth. We have had a few coaches come and go but thus far definitely self built. I am very proud of what my team has achieved and with our new club members I am excited to see what we can produce for this season. I eat sleep and breathe Uprising FC.

GT: It's clear to see the passion you have for the club which is a wonderful thing Indeed. Moving away from club football, you told me recently that you have won one international cap for Anguilla. For those of us who will never represent their country can you explain what that moment was like for you.

TG: Whenever you travel with the national team it is a great experience. I think in the moment you have to block out the stands full of people to block out the nerves. Travelling with the team is a beautiful experience and proves that regardless of where you are in the world the LOVE of the sport brings people together.

GT: You describe your experience absolutely brilliantly Tré. What are you hopes for your future in football?

TG: One day i would like to have my team as the top team in Anguilla. I want our team to be a team to look up to for young players across the island.

GT: And to finish, some general football related questions for you.

Do you support a team, if so who?

Who are the best team you have played against?

Who are your three favourite players in the world today?

TG: I'm a liverpool fan.

I think best team i have played against was lions.

My 3 favorite players currently are Van Dijk. Kante and Marcelo. All very different but i just admire their playing styles.
